Two-Forehand Foundations
Explore hand switching and court spacing with controlled beginner drills.
Start with control
Two forehands require more than moving a racquet between hands. The player must recognize the ball early, create space, and prepare before the bounce. Explore these drills with a coach; keep your usual match technique while learning.
1. Shadow transfer
Without a ball, begin in a comfortable ready position. Have a partner call left or right. Turn, transfer the racquet early, and make a slow shadow swing. Return to ready position. Complete ten relaxed repetitions on each side.
2. Gentle drop feeds
From inside the service boxes, ask a partner to drop-feed to a predictable side. Use a short swing and an easy target. Try five controlled contacts on each side before alternating. Slow down if switching disrupts grip or balance.
3. Recover after contact
Add one recovery step toward your agreed ready position. Aim for an early decision, a stable contact, and a balanced finish. Build consistency before speed.
Track what changes
Record how many of ten feeds you control into the target, whether transfer finishes before the bounce, and whether you recover ready for the next ball. Stop if pain or unusual strain appears, and ask your coach how to progress.
